The Golden Cavalier is a hybrid breed created in the United States in the 1990s. This breed’s exact origin is not known; however, it is thought to have been established by crossing Golden Retrievers with Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. The intention of this combination was to attain a thrifty pet featuring positive attributes from both its parents, such as a friendly disposition and a thick yet water-repellent coat.

While the Golden Cavalier is not yet a recognized breed by the American Kennel Club, it is recognized by some other organizations, including the American Canine Hybrid Club, the Designer Dogs Kennel Club, and the International Designer Canine Registry.

Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.

The Cavalier King Charles Spaniel has inherited the energetic traits of its spaniel ancestors. Although they love companionship and cuddling, they also have a hunting instinct that’s just as strong. When off leash, these dogs are happiest engaging in activities such as tracking and retrieving their prey. With equal parts love and athleticism, the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel is an ideal companion for any active family.
