Japan has been protected by the Akita Inu for over 10,000 years. The Akita Inu is commonly known as “Akita” and is well-known for its ability hunt in packs, taking down all types of animals including bears, wild boars, deer, and bears. Akitas are large, strong-looking dogs  with a powerful look . They were originally used to protect the nobility or royalty. The American Kennel Club was then accepted in 1972 as its own Akita Club of America. The divide is still wide and a concern to Akita lovers from both camps.

Akita Bassets can be loving and good-natured, but they can also be overprotective and possess high energy. Akita Bassets should train from a young age as Akitas can possessive tendencies. The Basset Hound is often laid back and easygoing, and a mix of the two may fall between the two parent breeds’ temperaments.
